As network systems have gotten more complex over the years, legacy tools are not good enough to manage or correct problems when they arise. This means that employees and contractors must go on site to fix the problem. Uplogix solves this problem.

Have you ever wanted to play foosball but couldn’t because you were unable to find someone to play against? The guys at instructables dot com solved this problem by creating a foosball table that has a computer opponent on one side.

The goal of this project was for a human player to be able to play against a robotic opponent. The human side of the table looks like your ordinary foosball table, however your opponents side consists of eight motors, a microcontroller, a webcam, and a computer.

The computer opponent is no tough match, however, it would be possible to speed up the computers play with a more expensive and larger gear ratio. Until this happens, I wouldn’t reccommend that you train against one of these things as you will not learn anything.

To see the table in action click play on the video below.

The number of odd USB powered computer peripherals continues to expand with the release of the USB hand warmer. This device may come in handy for those Canada inhabitants facing below zero winters such as myself, although I highly doubt it.

The USB hand warmer is designed for those moments in front of your PC when your fingers begin to lose their feeling. Now you can plug in this device, which takes the form of a jeopardy-buzzer-like looking stick, and wrap your frosty fingers around it feeling the heat immediately. Hey, why not go all out and get two of them to warm up both hands simultaneously?

.

I’ll admit, there have been times when I have lost the feeling in my fingers because of typing in a cold room, and priced at $10.99 a piece it almost makes me consider buying one. However, I think ill save some pocket change and resort to rubbing my hands together for 10 seconds to warm them up. If you have some extra cash and want to add to your insanely useless but cool USB device collection, go for it.

I have spent the past few days trying to figure out how to get my Playstation 3 SIXAXIS controller to work on my computer. Finally I was able to figure it out, and it’s rather simple to do actually.

Firstly, you must be running Windows XP (I’m running XP Pro). I am not sure if you will have the same results on other versions of Windows, but you can give it a shot if you like. The first thing you need to do is download the rar file found here, which contains two exe files. If you don’t have winRAR make sure you grab it first. Once you have downloaded the rar file, follow these steps.

1. Unrar the file containing the 2 exe’s
2. Run ‘libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe’
3. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC
4. Run ‘ps3sixaxis_en.exe’ Note: this program should automatically close after a few seconds of running it.
5. Go to control panel, and then click on game controllers. You should see ‘Playstation 3 Controller.’ Double click on it, and you should see 19 red icons representing the buttons of the controller.
6. Press the PS Button once, and button 17 should light up. Once it does, your controller is now working.

Note: Controller number LED’s may continue to blink, but not to worry, the controller will still work properly.

There you have it folks, you can now use your lovely Playstation 3 SIXAXIS on your computer.

Do any of you have problems getting yourself out of bed? I know I do. I saw this clock on TV and decided I would research it some more. Nanda has developed this revolutionary alarm clock, ‘Clocky’, for those of us that have trouble waking up in the morning. No need to set multiple alarm clocks anymore, the Clocky will make sure you are out of bed. Basically, once you set this alarm clock, you have one chance to get up. If you choose to hit the snooze button, (like we all do), the alarm clock will jump off your nightstand and wheel around your room looking for a place to hide. You will have to chase it down and turn it off, forcing you to get out of bed.

The Clocky can jump from 3 feet high, which makes it an ease to walk itself off any nightstand. The large wheels allow it to move on carpet or hardwood floor. If you do not want your Clocky running away from you, there is an option to disable the wheels so that it acts as a normal alarm clock. The Clocky is very small in size, measuring in at a mere 5.25″ x 3.5″ x 3.5″. It comes in a few different colours, such as almond, aqua, mint, and mustard. If you are interested in ordering your own Nanda Clocky, check out Nanda home dot com for more information. Here are a couple videos of the clocky in action.
